Boys bagging them hogs two at a time

I’ve talked about the feral hogs in the area. Most property owners in the area can show you the damage that these giant rodents cause. When my grandson comes to visit, he will sit out and try to eliminate some of them, but they are intelligent and difficult to catch. That’s why I was so impressed when Dalton and Trendon were able to kill two large hogs. My neighbors game camera showed a pack of 30 to 40 using my back pasture to cross to pastures that have feeding cows. The kids have energy and time to sit and hunt, but we older folks have lost some of our get up and go. Keep up the excellent work, boys.

January made sure we knew it was winter in Texas. Is there some nice rhyme that says February will be kinder? I spoke with my sister in Canada, and I was as cold as where she was. That is not right no matter how you cut it. I believe it will be a little warmer this coming week. I have a quilt to make, and I need warm weather to work in my little old house. I have a new appreciation for our forefathers who lived in this old house. Russ’s mom talks about eggs freezing on the counter, wind blowing through the cracks, and other terrible conditions that didn’t seem to bother them. I do love the old house. I’m taking the upstairs walls down to relieve the weight on the ground floor. I’ll sell the wood later down the road. Family history puts the house being built around 1910. I love working in all that history even if I have critter visitors and dirt that blows in around cracks. My roof needs help, but I’ve yet to find someone to fix it.

We’re all still working our way through the school issues. Both Mr. Friar and Mr. Roesler are having to make some tough decisions. As usual, our super teachers are willing to abide by the decisions being made by our administration and the board. Our school will survive, but it will require dedication from all concerned. Did I mention last week that donations from alumni will gladly be accepted?

Please pray for our community, our state, our country and for our borders. Pray for the elections this year. Please study platforms and beliefs carefully. Our ICE agents need the hand of God to protect them from the people attacking them. Pray for our community sick, our families who have lost loved ones, and our school. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
