Greetings from Costa Rica. My kids were glad to see me, not just because I brought things they needed, but also because they were glad to see family. I am getting my hugs in every day. I am having a wonderful mommy time. Moms around the world, rich or poor, young or old, know our hearts are repaired when we can see and hug our kids.
I've been pretty busy since I arrived. It's still the rainy season here, so we haven't done much beach time. I get to chose which ever meal I want, and Shane and Earnie take me to one of their favorite restaurants. Last night I had some delicious and original pizza. Earnie has cooked up some delicious Costa Rican meals as well.
Tomorrow we are headed to a famous waterfall. Nauyaca Falls, 10 miles there and back, is reached by foot, truck or four wheelers. I'm up for the four wheelers. If the water is warm enough, I will swim. We toured a chocolate farm last week. I'm sure you will all agree there is no way to go wrong with a chocolate tour. They also grew vanilla and coffee. The plants have to be hand pollinated due to their strange maturation times. We went to the marina for the lighting of the Christmas tree. I love the mouth watering fruit drinks you can get here. Russ likes banana milk. I will have one in his honor some time this week.
Shane just cut down a half dozen coconuts from the trees in the front yard. Earnie has shredded it up, and it is headed for the freezer. He has a giant tree hanging over the fence that his neighbor would like him to cut down because it is hanaging over the fence and could do serious damage if it falls or if the coconuts fall. I think that will require an arborist. Not only is it about 20 feet tall, it is leaning badly over a 10 foot drop. I would prefer that he hire that job out. I just had delicious mouthful of fresh coconut, and it is to a delight to my tongue. Earnie will make some protein drinks and slushies with the juice. Me oh my, life in the jungle is good.
Traveling during these Covid times is not easy. I'm scheduled to get another her antigen test before I head home. I had to have one before I left the US. It was free in San Saba, but not so here. Which reminds me, I couldn't get a test at Scott and White, but the new urgent care center, MidCoast located where the dentist used to be, did a terrific job. The staff is super friendly, competent and eager to help. Thank you ladies for the good care you gave me.
Coincidentally, my Costa Rican test will be done in a dentists office.
Whatever works is good for me. My connecting time from Quepos to San Jose is a bit close. I'm praying there will be no delays anywhere until I get my Southwest flight. Russ will be waiting for me in Austin.
Mrs. Wyatt posted the 12 days of Christmas to the website. We encourage the kids and staff to dress up for each day. I will miss the big game, but I hope everyone turns out to root for our team. The kids have benchmarks this week, and before we know it, Christmas break will be here. This school year is romping ahead dragging me along protesting at the speed.
Please keep our country, our government, and all the covid stuff in your prayers. South Africa is upset because we are shutting down travel to their country. According to the report I listen to from their chief medical officer, the new variant is extremely week and does not pose a terrible health risk. Please keep this new strain in your prayers. Pray for the care of the shut-ins around you, our elderly, our police officers and border patrol. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families.
