The Richland Springs Report

We’ve had lovely weather this week. This is the time of the year when I can turn off my air conditioner and open the windows for cool night air. If we get some of the promised rain, that will be even better.

The column this week is a little short. Many of you know my son-in-law Mark has multiple cancers. We’ve been trying to keep him home and comfortable, but that is not an easy thing to do. Sunday, Mark took a turn for the worse. Even though we’ve been expecting it, the action when it happens is heartbreaking. I will gladly accept any prayers that ask for healing here on Earth or in heaven. It’s difficult to watch someone you love suffering. I have the most excellent caregivers in the world. Kathy Davee, April Stewart and Chrissy Baker, my daughter. They are giving him such loving care. It would have been impossible to keep him home but for these ladies.

Our sports teams, volleyball, football, and cross country are doing well. Red Ribbon week happens this week with many fun activities and costumes. Don’t forget Trunk or Treat downtown Saturday evening, 6-8 p.m. Chrissy’s Plants will feature their annual free hot dog night. Everyone in the community, young and old, are invited. Bobby has a ton of hot dogs to give away. Come by and have an evening snack.

The First Baptist's 150th anniversary celebration was a tremendous success. Past members and pastors came to participate and members from the Christian church came early for the fellowship breakfast. They were much appreciated. That's part of what makes this community unique. We cooperate and support one another. Thank you to all w ho made this day special.

Please pray for our elections. Pray for our country and some peace on earth. France is on fire, as are Italy and Spain. Unhappy students caused early riots in France. The riots have since been taken over by immigrants and unions. We are fortunate to have such a strong country with closed borders. Don’t forget the bond election. You will need to vote at the school during early election. Have a blessed week. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
