The Richland Springs Report

Many of you have heard our sad news. Russ and I lost our daughter Tracy on Saturday. It’s unnatural for a parent to bury a child. The last few days have been a hazy nightmare. Diabetes is a nasty and deadly disease that must be monitored carefully. For that reason, this column will be short this week.

Our school is preparing for the UIL academic contests as well as preparing entries for the San Saba County Youth Fair. Our FFAstudents will be competing in Burnet this week, and there will be junior high and varsity football games at Lohn on Thursday. Sixweek reports will be sent out at the end of the week. Don’t forget senior photographs in Goldthwaite. The 6–12-year-olds who attend First Baptist Kids’ group will be attending Gospel Rocks Ranch Day at the ranch event Saturday the 8th. All insurance forms must be with your student before they can enter the vans. No exception will be given since this is the ranch’s regulation. Parent’s must also register online at gospelrocksranch.org for this event. It will be a fantastic day of fun and faith.

We had a farewell luncheon for Mr. Faircloth on Friday. Mr. Roger Roesler will be the new interim principal. Mr. Faircloth was a wonderful example of good management. We appreciate his willingness to step in and keep us steady. Mr. Roesler’s ag classes will be managed temporarily by one of our own champions, Jerry Burkhart. He will also assist the coaching staff as needed. Welcome back, Coach Burkhart, and good luck, Mr. Roelser.

Please help your student stay focused as we enter this holi-day season. There are so many activities and competitions that if students don’t keep up with their daily work, they may have problems when reports are due.

There will be a funeral service for Shane Phillips at the First Baptist Church on November the 15th. The Feedlot hosted a fundraising event for Sally Gossett. I’m told the event will help with medical expenses. We are praying for Valerie Gossett Barker. She was admitted for surgery last week. Many prayers are needed.

Please pray for our community, our sick, our country, and so many hurting people who are without resources due to the shutdown. Pray for our congress and their decisions that affect so many citizens. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
