The Richland Springs Report

My son Shane made my day and came down Sunday to clear up several mechanical problems I’ve been dealing with here. He has my Prius up and running again, which is a joy. He suggested that I clean it up and sell it. I really do like my Prius V Hybrid, but I don’t need two cars anymore. I’ll have to look up the Blue Book sale price.

We have two weeks left in the second six weeks, and Thanksgiving break is on the short horizon. As quickly as this year seems to be moving, I hope we are all teaching and learning at the same pace. At any rate, we are making our way through the year.

Although the volleyball team lost their game against Zephyr, they put up a good fight. There is no reason to hang their heads. It’s difficult to play against old friends and teammates and a much-loved coach. The girls had time for some catch up news and a little hug fest. Congratulations to all concerned.

The cross-country Lady Coyotes will be in Corpus Christi for the Regionals on October the 20th. On October 21st, K-5 will head out to Georgetown to spend the day at the Sweet Eats Farm. I wonder if they need another chaperone. On October 23rd, junior high football will play Panther Creek at Panther Creek. On the 24th Varsity will play at home against Panther Creek with a 7:30 kick-off. The game will be followed by a Fifth Quarter at the First Baptist Church. On the 25th, the Lady Coyotes will play Zephyr at home at 10:00 a.m. Senior players will be presented and honored.

There will be a RSPS meeting at the community center Tuesday, the 22nd, starting at 6:30 p.m. This Sunday, the 26th, we will have another community potluck. Please bring your dishes to the community center. We look forward to seeing our friends around the banquet table. Don’t forget Kids’ Church on Wednesday immediately after school, followed by Shiloh Youth Church at 6:30 p.m.

Another important event is the visit to Gospel Rocks Ranch on November 7th. The Baptist Church is taking kids ages 5-12 to the ranch for a full day of fun. Parents must register online and fill out the insurance form. The church will provide transportation. All elementary students have been given the information. If your student has lost their form, please contact either their teacher, Mrs. Ransom, Mrs. Starr, or the church.

Please pray for our community, our school, our state, our country, and the wars around the world. Our ICE agents and police officers need prayers of protection from angry mobs. Pray for civil discourse in our dealings with one another. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. Praise God that they have found a way to keep them paid. We need our government working so all the other federal workers can feed their families. Have a blessed week.
