Only one more week, and school is out. This coming week we have the volcano explosions on Thursday morning early. Volcanoes will be followed by the elementary water day. Junior high and high school will be cleaning out lockers, returning books and making sure all work has been turned into teachers. Friday morning is elementary and UIL academic awards. Parents are welcome to attend their student’s events.
The quilting ladies have a sew day on Friday. Typically, everyone brings their latest project, a lunch dish, and their best smile. What could be better? Good food, creative endeavors, and great friends to build up the spirit. They will also be attending a quilting retreat in early June. They have room for two more ladies if you would like to attend.
The Baccalaureate ceremony was held at the Christian Church on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. This is the first of several send-offs gifted to the graduates of Richland Springs. Church members from all area churches participated in the choir. The graduates homily was brought by Jeff Robinett. His sermon was based on the story of David. He encouraged the students to pick five stones to rely on when moving forward. He listed distinctive character traits that will be needed in the future. Shiloh gave a Bible and Book of Promises to each graduate. The Christian Church gave a Max Lucado book, and the Gideons gave the graduates a small pocket Bible. The evening culminated in a reception. Many thanks to the members of the Christian Church, Mrs. Ann Slaymaker for her musical prowess, and Otto Sonnenberg, as host for the event.
Next weekend is the graduation ceremony for the 2025 class and the roping fundraiser for the seniors. It’s the final event before the seniors are released to their next adventure. We wish them all the absolute best as they head off to either college or new jobs.
I’m headed for San Antonio the first of June. My fantastic cruise will start off with one long overnight flight. It has multiple stops, so I don’t anticipate getting much sleep. I can recuperate on the cruise. I can’t wait to see my Canadian sisters and of course my grandchildren. Greece, here I come.
Thank you once again for the wonderful turn out to the RSPS luncheon. With the community’s help, the roof loan will be paid off on time and the interior renovations can be completed. Thank you for your support.
Many prayers are needed for members in our community who are facing serious diseases. We’re grateful for Troy Soto’s recovery. Johnny Reeves needs prayers for his cancer battle. Lynn Reeves is recovering well from her foot surgery. Our country needs prayers for efficiency and cooperation. It would be nice to have a return to debate and civility. Lord, we need some serious rain. Have a wonderful week everyone.
