The Richland Springs Report

I do believe my bones have thawed out and I can face going outside. I have not enjoyed the last few weeks. We did get .6 inches of rain which was a bonus. We need continued prayer for more rain. It’s time to put out onion sets and potatoes. I planted some seeds yesterday, and I know Chrissy has quite a few seeds started in her garden house. I love the planting season even if I’m not a successful a gardener. I’m determined this year to have a decent garden. Jesus used the garden and planting parables to get his message out. I want to be a productive gardener as well as a productive Christian.

I’ve heard from my Canadian relatives. They were not happy with the tariffs, but I tried to explain that those tariffs will disappear as soon as the Canadian government works with our government. Canadians are a unique group of people. I think it will happen quickly, and my sisters won’t have to listen to people bad-mouthing Americans. I hope this is resolved in the next week or two. Trudeau is making waves because he hopes the Canadians will remember they want him replaced.

Last Thursday’s board meeting was held to discuss administrative contracts and to introduce our incoming principal, Amy Wilson. The school will put out a bio for her later, but she was at the meeting to explain her educational strategy. Those who attended were impressed with her credentials and her positive attitude. Mrs. Wilson will shadow Mrs. Wyatt for the next few weeks. We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Wilson and excited for this new opportunity for Mrs. Wyatt.

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast will take place this Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. All men and their sons are welcome to participate. There were 28 men last month. There’s plenty of tasty food, good friends, and a positive message to start the week. It will be on Saturday at the Tabernacle thanks to the beautiful weather.

Our basketball teams are doing well. Their most recent meet was against the Priddy Pirates. Both boys and girls were winners. The game will be covered elsewhere in the paper.

The quilting ladies had a sewing day on Monday. They will still have their regular Tuesday meeting. The Wednesday Kid’s Church kids will be sending Valentine’s Day cards to veterans in area nursing homes.

Don’t forget the luncheon on Sunday the 16th at the Community Center. All funds go towards the repair of the roof and eventually the renovation of the interior. Thank you to the many generous donors who are sending money for this project.

Please pray for our community sick. We have several cancer patients. Danny Phillips is going for shoulder surgery. Lisa Young just had throat surgery. There are many others who need a healing touch. Please pray for our country, our new President, and his cabinet. We have multiple families needing comfort after the two plane crashes. Please pray that the tariffs on our neighbors don’t last long. Pray for rain and for our new principal. There will be school board positions open, and we need good citizens who care about our kids to step up and run for one of the positions. Be a good citizen and serve your community. Have a wonderful week.
