It’s hard to imagine Galveston with snow and then compare it to our little sprinkling. I was hoping for the kids sake that we would have enough to make a snowman or two. But no such luck. We do need moisture of some kind. Warmer weather is on its way, and that will make me happy.
The quilting ladies and I had a wonderful time in Stonewall. We have ladies from multiple churches, and we’re spread out around the county, but we are one group of sisters. It’s such a caring group of Christian women. We laugh together, pray for each other, and there is always a compassionate ear to listen to troubling issues. I can’t say enough about our hosts Jack and Kay Huffman and their daughter Carolyn. This was Paula Miller’s first retreat. We were delighted to have a new sister friend, and I feel sure that she was happy to have been part of this crazy, loving group.
I’m sure the news has drifted around regarding Rhonda Wyatt. Rhonda has asked to be released from her contract so that she can assist her daughter in her business. She has served this school faithfully for the last 15 years and she will be missed.
Her replacement has been chosen, and we are looking forward to partnering with our new principal. More details will be released by Mr. Kirby our superintendent later. If you have time, please drop Mrs. Wyatt a note of appreciation.
I’m running through my pile of logs. I love the warmth of a good fire, but it takes time and effort to keep a fire going. I have many dead trees from the drought, but they haven’t been cut up yet. I burnt my knuckles tonight because the door swung back while I was putting on a big log. I guess my aloe vera will be put to beneficial use. It also tells me to cut smaller logs.
The Preservation Society will hold another fund-raising luncheon on Sunday the 16th. The meal is on a donation basis only. Work will begin on the roof in mid-February. The group will continue to raise money for the bank renovations.
Our basketball teams are continuing to improve, and hopes are high for them to reach the playoffs. There will be more benchmarks taken in the next few weeks. Obviously, these are not high points in the education day but are needed to monitor the progress of our students. Mr. Kirby’s goal is to have our school achieve an A grade. We’re all doing our best to accomplish his goal.
We continue to need prayers for the cancer patients in our county. We have several in rehab needing prayer and there are hurting families facing hardships. Please be aware and help where you can. Remember the food bank in Richland is available the first and third Mondays of the month from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. We have a few new grandparents in the county as well. Please pray for our new President and Congress. We are thankful that a few hostages have been released from Gaza but want all of them to return to their families. Have a blessed week.
