Goodness, only 21 days until Christmas. I’ve been privileged to spend another year on this fragile planet. I am a blessed person. My life is rich and full, sometimes a little too full. I have my spouse of almost 53 years still with me, and I have four children in good places. What more can a person request?
I’m blessed. The Beautification Committee, under the guidance of Paige Moats, had another successful Christmas Market. For the last few years, the committee has given all proceeds of their fund raisers to the Preservation Society. They are helping us gather enough money to replace the bank roof. I wish we could get a large amount of money, but if we must chip away at our $50,000 goal, one chunk at a time, we will. If there is anyone out there who wants to send RSPS a large chunk, please feel free to help. Thank you very much to the Beautification Committee. The Preservation Society will be hosting a noon meal on December the 8th. The meal is donation only. Please include us in your Sunday meal plans. There will be a choice of stew, chili, or soup with the fixings, to eat at the Community Center or take home.
Our Coyote football team fought a tough fight against Oglesby but was defeated 60-46. They didn’t give up the fight, but they did come up short. We are proud of our athletes and coaches. We will try for the magic number 10 next year. They will not have time to rest since most of them are also on the basketball team. Good luck to all our athletes.
The Perry family community Thanksgiving dinner was a tremendous success. Chris told me they served 47 plates.
There was plenty of food to share, and it was a blessing to the people involved. Thank you to Chris and Kristy and their extended family for this treat. Chris and Kristy will also be heading to Brownwood to assist with the Christmas Shoe boxes in mid-December.
Please put the Christmas Program at the Christian Church on your calendar. It will be next Sunday the 8th at 6:00 p.m. There will be a practice on Saturday. If you want to participate, please contact Paula Sue Shannon. This is the opening of the Christmas season. Local singers and instrumentalists are welcome to share their talents with the community.
I just watched a few minutes of the San Francisco and Buffalo game. It reminded me of why I live in Texas and not Canada.
Playing in the snow is awful, miserable, and plain cold. I do think we could use some rain.
Please pray for our President elect as he prepares to take over. Also, on December 14th, Rennie Mann will launch his senatorial race campaign. He has a long rough road in front of him and will need our prayers. Pray for the wars, the inflation, and our border. For people struggling with the change in administration, please don’t panic. Our beautiful system forces a voter mandated change every two years. Trust the system, the voters, do your duty and vote. We have at least three local families grieving for loved ones that have passed away. Our deep condolences go out to the Edwards family in Zephyr. Don’t forget our troops away from home and family.
God bless America.
