Although not everyone who reads this column will understand, an historic event happened on Friday night. For the first time in 20 years, our mighty Coyotes went down in defeat to Cherokee. It was a hard-fought game, and both teams played passionately. Unfortunately, Cherokee played a little better than we did. I need to remind everyone that a one-game loss is not the end of the world. Granted, we were missing our great half-time motivator, but most of this team has sat under the leadership and training of Coach Burkhart. They should be well trained in the Coyote motto, “Coyotes fight…never die.” I am sad that we lost because the nay-sayers will be gloating and pointing fingers. There is no need. We stumbled, but we will keep fighting. Stand up and get better. Our prayers need to go out for Brandon Stewart, who broke his collarbone early in the game. We will be ready; you can do it, Coyote athletes.
The Bo Ho Unique Boutique is getting close to their opening date. I’ve watched and helped on several occasions, and I am really impressed and excited about this new venture. I hope everyone will go by and see what this unique and intriguing little store is presenting.
The funeral for George Hill was held on Saturday. The food offerings for the family were overwhelming. There was so much food left over that a memorial lunch was held after church on Sunday.
About 25 people stayed and fellowshipped with Donna. We have several new widows in church, and they are standing with Donna as she works her way through grief. They have and are walking in her shoes and can understand the healing and grieving process. George is in a much better place.
Kid’s Church on Wednesday has had a steady attendance of 30 kids. Volunteers are always needed as it’s like holding on to 30 little live wires. Our youth are excellent helpers. Congratulations to the Fields of Faith kids from Shiloh. They had an impressive Christian experience, and once again several kids stepped forward to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I have many happy photos of that event and summer camp from years past. This community loves their children. There is nothing more important than the eternal future of our kids.
I understand the goat-roping fund raiser for the seniors went well. I am presuming the Tharp Fund was an outstanding success, judging by the crowds. The Tharp family gives scholarships to students in four or five district schools. Joey would be proud of his family.
We have guarded news about Jolene Tharp and Micah Shaw. Both families need our prayers. Most obviously, we need to pray for the upcoming elections, our country, our open southern border, and the agents guarding it. Pray for our football team; they have lost two players, Brandon Stewart and Jeremiah Beam, to injuries. Despite the mess around us, we are a blessed country and have many reasons to thank the Lord. Have a wonderful week.
