We’ve lost some wonderful people the last few weeks and this week is no different. This weekend, Stanley Larremore went to be with the Lord. He had fought valiantly for many years, and his family fought alongside him. Praise God, Stanley can be whole and peaceful now.
In addition, the Strattons have been praying for their friends, the Whites. Sue and Roger went to be with the Lord on the same day. I believe that is a wonderful thing. Neither spouse had to miss the other; they are together in paradise.
The report from Mary Patrick is that she is responding to her chemo treatments. The prayer list this week was heartbreakingly long. Yet, despite the ailments, more people are worried about the sickness in our country. Please make sure you vote to get our country back on track.
The excitement of Homecoming was considerably dampened when Brookesmith called Friday to cancel the night game. All plans came to a halt, and the last-minute notice angered many people. I know we have folks who think it was done on purpose; perhaps it was, but we must take the higher road.
It’s time for everyone to applaud Lohn for the selfless sacrifice of their Homecoming to play at ours. The new date is this Thursday, October 27th. Please come and show your appreciation for our students, but also for Lohn and its fans.
I don’t know what prompted the Brookesmith cancellation. I heard it was missing players. So, they forfeit, and we get on with the agenda on hand. Let’s play and win, and keep our heads above the mud.
There is a fundraiser for Coach Burkhart’s appeal on his suspension. Many of our fans have been contacted by officers and members of the Howler’s Club. If you would care to donate towards this fund, please contact the officers of the Club. I wish Coach Burkhart all the best. He’s had a target on his back for many years. Please remember him in your prayers also for the recent loss of his beloved Papa Jack.
My Chrissy and her partner Jackie have been visited by numerous folks trying to satisfy their curiosity. Both will love to reveal their plans for the variety store, now called BoHo Unique. There is a treasure of unique and interesting items.
Chrissy and Jackie have multiple commercial vendors who have given them permission to sell their products, such as Fain’s Honey, Spiral Horn Coffee, CBD Oils, antique items, modern kitchen products and delicious smelling products. Opening will be the weekend of the 29th. Come by and buy. Shop locally takes on new meaning this year. They will have coffee made up so customers can taste the several types of coffee. There are some strange products that should intrigue you. Come down and see.
Simultaneously, other rooms in the old bank building are being renovated and prepared for exciting new functions. Another exciting development in the downtown area is the sale of Annie’s house on the corner and subsequent clean-up of a nasty eyesore. I know Annie is smiling from heaven. We are getting this small town tidied up, one space at a time. The comments on the acquisition have been positive.
I started the column with my typical closing paragraph, but rain is still needed in this area. Our country needs prayers, Europe is facing a fuel crisis, and our policemen and legal system are under attack.
Please keep praying for a change. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. See you Thursday for Homecoming.
