I just dated this issue with my birthday. I will be a whopping 75 on the 18th. I don’t feel that old, so I’ve decided to dyslexic my numbers and become 57. They say you are as old as you feel. I admit some days I feel the weight of those years. But working with kids lifts my burdens, and I see life as a kid. My students have kept me young and alive. I suspect the time to totally leave teaching school will come, but I will delay that date if I can. I love my life; God has been good to me even through the trials.

My old house roof lasted through the last big rains. Russ and I did a jerry-rig fix that was iffy at best. Praise God, the roof held. I haven’t checked to see how much rain made its way into the house. We had two inches of beautiful rain and the roof stayed. You can’t get better than that.

I stopped by the RS Bo Ho Unique store today to get some gifts. Paige Moats and other members of the Beautification Committee and Jason Lewis from the Preservation Society were busy decorating for the big Christmas Market coming up on the 26th. There are many quality vendors coming to spread joy in our little town. Don’t forget to visit our local stores. Skelton’s has kept a small supply of groceries since the pandemic, and they have a wonderful stock of hardware items. I did grab the last heat lamp until the next shipment comes. The Coyote Store has great sandwiches, milkshakes and now a grocery department.

The Feedlot has limited its menu, but pizzas are still available. Mann Glass is there for your glass needs, and McKinnerney Real Estate will handle your real estate needs. Keep your business local if possible.

See you at the Christmas Market.

I will have all four kids on the property next week. That doesn’t happen very often with one child living in Costa Rica. I intend to soak up as much love and hugs as possible. Chrissy is getting ready to go into her first Christmas season at the post office. You might say a little prayer for her and Brad and be patient. Things are getting busy with Christmas rush packages.

Our Coyotes Varsity athletes are headed to the next round of football playoffs. The time and place will be posted on the school website. At the time of this column, no details were available.

Whatever the outcome of the next game, we stand strong and proud behind our guys. Injuries and off court issues have made this a tough season, but they are battling through. Way to go Coyotes.

Johnny Reeves came blowing into the hardware store as I was leaving with my milk and water. He was so proud and happy for the cold weather.

He didn’t get much happy from me. When he asked me why I wasn’t pleased with the weather, I reminded him that I left Canada because I disliked cold weather. Russ is making me a temporary greenhouse to protect my lemon trees. They weigh too much to be carting in and out of the house. I had my own little area for them, but he didn’t think my plan was very good. So, now he has made more work for himself. Works for me, I guess.

So many families will be facing the holidays without their loved ones. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Please add the Gibson family to your prayers as John Gibson has passed. Include them in your plans if possible. Keep our country and elections in your prayers. Fred Overstreet is back home after a trip to the ER with a heart attack. Heather Lewis is hopefully on the road to recovery with her heart issues. There are multiple cases of cancer in the area, and many other family problems that need the hand of the Lord. Please keep our community in your prayers. If you think about it, pray for the millions of shoeboxes going out from Samaritan’s Purse. My church is sending out 60. Pray for our border, our agents, policemen, EMT’s, but most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. Dig out your thankful thoughts and pass them on to others.
