The Richland Springs Report

I’m finally settling into a routine now that my travelling days are over for a while. I’m behind in all I do, but hopefully this week, I will get everything on track.

The first thing to report is that the Preservation Society will have a meeting on Thursday, September 15th, at 6:00 p.m.

There is much to discuss, and if you are interested in the bank building renovations and future plans, your presence and input will be most welcome. I won’t dwell on the topics for the meeting since there will be a full report after the meeting. There are plans to put a meeting report for the Preservation Society in the San Saba News & Star.

Since I have been out of pocket for so long, Kids Church will not start until Wednesday the 21st. Letters and permission slips will be given out to students who wish to attend. We plan to pick the kids up right after school, give them a hearty snack, and then do Bible study, music, and crafts until 5:20 p.m. A van will be available to return kids home within a five-mile radius of the church.

Parents are welcome to pick up at 5:20-5:30 p.m. We’re excited to finally get our Kids Church up and running. Students from K-5th are welcome to attend, and junior high students can act as helpers. By mid-October, I hope to have a tutoring session at the church from 2-4 p.m. There will be no cost to parents, but students needing help will need to be delivered and pick-up. Parents will need to call and schedule their student for help and make sure their student attends.

If you have any input on that topic, please let me know.

Wednesday nights are a busy night for churches. Shiloh has youth and adult services. First Baptist has Kid’s Church, youth, and adult Bible study. All churches welcome your attendance.

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.

The Howlers Club is selling tickets to the Howlers Ball. Cost for the evening of entertainment is $100 per couple. Excuse the pun, but last year’s ball was a howling success. See Chad Ashworth for tickets.

The quilting ladies went to Cherry Spring Retreat in Fredericksburg. Our hostess, Sarah, has a beautiful place for quilters.

Almost every wall is a design wall, and all the rooms are clean and airy. You can even see if Tony the llama will visit with you. I didn’t get many of my projects done because my machine decided to act up on me. It was a delightful retreat even if there were only five of us attending.

There are serious health issues in the community and those need our prayers and care. If you have a few minutes, why not check on your church members, community elderly and shut ins. We have had a generous blessing in the rain department. The land looks good. I did not notice a great amount of time spent on remembering the 9/11 attacks, but that date should be remembered as a date in infamy, just like Pearl Harbor. Thank you to all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives to save others. Please pray for those still suffering from the aftereffects of this horrible event.

Please pray for our sick, our country, the Ukrainian people, our upcoming elections and our first responders. Pray for our open border and the influx of undocumented people. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. Have a wonderful week and keep rooting for our super Coyotes.
