I just sat down to type, and a quick shower dropped some moisture on my roof. There’s not much coming down, but it’s still raining 60 minutes later. Praise God.
The cross-country athletes performed very well and brought home a good district performance. The volleyball girls are continuing their winning streak. The varsity football team brought home a tough win against archrival Rochelle. The Coyote saga marches on, and fans continue to show up to support our teams. Good luck to all our teams and coaches.
The Bo Ho Unique store in town is almost ready to have its grand opening. Fain’s Honey has delivered, plus several other stores from Fredericksburg and Bill’s Seasoning are on board. Amazingly, the prices will be lower than Lowe’s in San Saba. So, now you know where to go to get honey and spices at a good price. Spiral Horn Coffee should be delivering coffee to the store shortly. The ladies plan to have a pot brewed for customers. There is a wide range of goods. I saw a cute purse that was calling my name, and the little spectacle readers are on my to-buy list. Please stop by and see what is calling your name. Remember, Christmas is right around the corner.
The variety store is not the only Preservation Society project on the books. Multiple ideas are being floated to see what would best serve the community. The large downstairs room is the next big project. That means more clearing and sorting. There should be another meeting coming soon. Jason will keep everyone posted on Facebook. All ideas are welcome, and you are invited to take part in this restoration project.
My Chrissy and her husband, Bobby, went to the Howlers Ball. This is one of the major fundraisers for the Howlers. Proceeds are used to improve the school and support teachers and athletes. They felt a bit out of place because they don’t know very many people, but to them it seemed as if the event was a success. Way to go, everyone. Unfortunately, she did not bring home any money. Better luck next year.
The quilting ladies are using Shannon Bream’s book for their study this session. The quilt is chicken squares. For those of you who like chickens, there are 12 chicken squares. I may chose one or two, but I’m not feeling a chicken quilt. It is delightful though. Everyone is welcome; we have ladies from at least four different churches.
I can’t begin to write about all the names on the prayer lists from the churches and the quilting ladies. The list gets longer every week.
This past week, Bobby Mask, Marty Reed, and George Hill went to meet their Lord. Coach Burkhart lost his beloved Papa Jack. Stanley Larremore has been sent home to be with his family. Jolyn Tharp has received chemo for her cancer, and doctors are guarded in their prognosis. Tripton Trujillo, Sue White, Carroll Stratton, Kathy Brockman, Brandon Stewart, Micah Shaw, and a dozen others are facing serious health issues. For those of you who have seen the photos of the tortuous rig that Kolton Bench is wearing on his leg, you know he needs prayers. All these families need our prayers.
God is good, and we need Him to guide us. Our country needs help - our government, our borders, and upcoming elections. All need His guidance. The food pantry will be open the first and third Mondays of the month. Donations are needed, and everyone in the community is welcome to come and get food if they need it. Times are tough, and we need to support one another. Please, God, protect our law enforcement personnel and most of all, protect our precious troops and their families.
