The countdown until Christmas has started. There are multiple giving opportunities available to those who have a little spare cash. This is the season for giving and sharing. There are angels on the angel tree in San Saba, our local fire department takes donations and hands out Christmas gifts. The First Baptist is planning a community-wide Christmas dinner for anyone wanting to share a meal. More details will be given next week. If you are needing assistance, please let one of the local churches know. Shiloh usually collects names and gifts as well as the other churches in town. Help is available.

UIL competition was Monday. Students from K-8 will come to Richland Springs to compete for their schools in multiple subjects. Ladies from the community, and some men, provided food for the teachers. Richland Springs is known for its wonderful cooks. This event requires quite a few volunteers and teachers to run, grade and corral the students. The bottom line is school pride. Richland Springs always must work harder because we have so few students. I’ve written before that my A grade grandchildren never competed in UIL academics, but our Richland Springs kids and other schools in the district must enter their students in multiple competitions. It gets crazy. The results will be published next week.

I’d like to remind everyone to try to shop locally. Mann Glass is there for your glass needs, Coyote Store carries lunch menus and a small grocery and gift store, The Feedlot has reduced its menu, but pizzas and drinks are available. Downtown we have Skelton’s Hardware. It meets all your hardware needs and carries milk and other grocery items. Our newest store, RS BoHo Unique has new hours, Monday through Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 12-5. Both Jackie and Chrissy can be called for emergency gifts outside of store hours. The same goes for Skelton’s Hardware, if it’s an emergency they will try to help you manage your crisis. Please do your best to shop locally.

The ladies quilting party will be on Tuesday at the church. I believe the school’s Christmas dinner will be next week. The school will send out a notice. Keep your eyes open for basketball schedules. If you haven’t seen the redesigned gym floor, you have missed a treat.

Come out and support our Coyote boys and girls.

Brother Mack had drill this week so the message at First Baptist was preached by Johnny Reeves. He always preaches a good message. What was disconcerting to me was the long prayer list. Not all people attend our church, but there were at least five people fighting cancer, multiple surgeries and this latest flu/RSV has hit many schools and businesses in the area. Fortunately, it is not deadly like the Covid-19. Lysol wipes are going to have another good year.

Please pray for our sick in the area, our grieving, our shut-ins, and our school kids. Praise God for our recent rains, they were a blessing. Police forces around the country are working understaffed; pray for their safety. Our southern border is under siege, and we need something done by Congress. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
