Looks like we skipped spring with its life-giving rains. We’ve already had more 100-degree days than we did all summer. My pasture is usually full of spring flowers, but all I see are the milkweed plants.
If any did manage to come up, the cows would get them. I suspect farmers and ranchers will be feeding in June unless we get some rain.
We gave our track team a rousing send off for their state track meet.
I wish they had all medaled, but Jadeyn Bryant was the only one. They should all be proud that they were the elite who went to state. Sierra Tharp is headed to state in golf this week. Our prayers and best wishes are with her.
The elementary students are going to Extreme Jumps on Wednesday, and Gutters and Putters on Thursday. Sixth grade is going to Enchanted Rock and the Llano River area on Wednesday. Starr tests are completed for now. I may not be around when the results come out, but I will check in with Mrs. Wyatt to see how my sweeties did. All around the state, parents and students are forced to worry over this silly test.
Sunday the 22nd will be the Baccalaureate at the Christian Church; the 23rd is the Teacher’s breakfast at my home. Ladies and gentlemen from our area churches are providing the meal. The 26th will be awards and graduation day for eighth grade, and Friday the 27th will be the water day followed by an early release at 1:00 p.m. Then, it’s summertime for the kids and teachers.
I have two, possibly three, trips planned this summer: Alaska in July, Costa Rica in August, and perhaps Canada in September. My brother is sick, and I may have to make a rush trip there. At least I won’t have to wear a mask. I have not seen my siblings in two years because of this covid stuff.
I attended the City Council meeting last week. There were a few citizens who needed clarification on city bylaws. Paige Moats wanted clarification on lanes and rights of way. Marlin Winters and his wife Sherri wanted to lodge a complaint about actions taken by a certain alderman. Mayor Reeves was unsure as to the actions the city could take and advised that the issue be worked out privately. The city hired a contract Judge from Brady. This will mean that fines and arrests can be quickly accomplished. One other citizen had a covid question that was answered.
Our prayer list includes George and Donna Hill, Nelson Smith, Helon Mayor, Weldon Faught, Charlie Clayton, H.B Adams, Lynn Reeves, the Martinez family in Florida and the Bob Collins family. Two of our young people, Melany Oyervides and Kolton Bench, need surgery for bones.
Our condolences go out to Grace Hardman’s family as she went to be with her Lord this weekend.
Please pray for rain. We need to be serious about this issue. Pray for our government, the Ukraine, and the unrest in our country. We are a great country with wonderful people. We can overcome. Please pray for our precious troops and their families.
