The Richland Springs Report

Bob Brockman has been an integral part of this community for over 90 years. He has served the Lord faithfully and held steadfast over the years. While I was in the hospital, he received his reward and went home to be with his heavenly Father. This community will miss him. His funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.

I have enjoyed Baylor Scott and White doctors for many years. I have yet to meet a bad one. I have a new star to add to my heroes. Dr. Harris in the urology department is an absolute blessing. Not only does he return calls and respond to messages, but he also does it after 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays. I cannot say enough about his caring attitude.

This coming week is area contests. Unfortunately, because we are so small, many of our kids compete in multiple events. When I left to have my kidney stones removed, they were in dialogue with Blanket to run some sprint type events early so that our team could compete in the One Act Play the same evening. It’s a shame, but some of our kids are going to have to choose between two events, and thereby cause a loss to another school team. UIL needs to take small schools into consideration when they are making statewide decisions.

Russ has planted all my new roses; Chrissy and Bobby have planted the veggie garden. What we all need is a good rain. I spoke with Donna Taylor, and she is sending older cows to market because food and hay are so expensive. She also said that fertilizer is up 190% which will make a hay crop more expensive. That means we can expect even higher prices at the food market.

There is a blood drive at the school next week. I have signed up, but I’m not sure I will be allowed to give. The nurses had an engaging time trying to draw blood from my reluctant veins. If you want to donate, please call the school, and make an appointment.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the park Sunday after church for community kids.

Doris Korenec needs prayer. She fell, hit her head, and has bleeding on the brain. The Brockman family needs prayers. Tanner Lewis, Phyllis Taylor, Earl Patrick, Weldon Ransbarger, Michelle Green, and Brother Mack as he continues to serve at the border need our prayers. Foremost on all our hearts is the need for rain. We also need peace at the border, in Ukraine and in our major cities. Please add our police, border patrol and other emergency officers in a prayer of protection. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
