Is today a sweater day or a short sleeve day? Lately, weather in Richland Springs is exciting and uncertain. The rule of the day is - never put your out-ofseason clothes in storage. Sure, as shooting, you will need them.
The Preservation Meeting held on Saturday at the Stagecoach was entertaining. New officers were inducted, Marlan Winter showed a video tour of the bank building, while Sherry Winter put forth proposals for restoration plans. I was pleased with the number of people who turned out to support this group. Volunteers, if you are interested, please sign up for the clean-up days. Students at RSISD will be doing benchmark testing Tuesday through Thursday. Friday, students will celebrate the 100th day by dressing up in costume. This will also be the end of the grading period. It’s hard to believe we only have 12 weeks of school left. Our Lady Coyotes are Area champions; the boys are advancing as well. Tuesday, our basketball athletes will be in Brownwood attempting to advance in the basketball play-offs. Fans, please come and fill the stands.
The Canadian truckers are in trouble. Strangely enough, I get to hear both sides of the media from my two sisters. My eldest sister believes that the Canadian government under Trudeau, has not acted fairly or honestly with the truckers. She believes the government has overstepped its authority. My younger sister believes the truckers are Covid spreading thugs who need to go to jail. She thinks they have no right to block streets just to protest mandates. I love my sisters, but one of them is crazy. I leave you to choose which one. I am proud of the stand the truckers have taken.
My mailbox is full of political flyers. This is the time when we must do our research, so that we can vote with knowledge. Please do not stay home. I realize how difficult it is to pick a candidate. I watch one ad that talks about how wonderful one person is only to have that ad followed up by another that talks about how horrible that person will be in office. Don’t give up, research several sites, and make your choice.
The prayer list is lengthy this week. Alan Taylor is now on a ventilator, and we are asking that if you are up at 7 a.m., please stop a moment and pray for his health. Dalton Moats sustained a concussion at the junior high basketball game this past weekend, but he is doing better. Scott Isbel and Tony Dodson, ex-teachers of Richland, are both seriously ill. The families of Mark Martin, and Stuart Beckworth need prayers. We are happy to have Brother Mack back from training, although he is in rough shape. Our county needs rain, our government needs prayer, and the Ukrainians need help. Please lift them up. Please pray for all the men and women who defend us daily, especially our precious troops and their families. Have a wonderful week.
