Lenny's Life Lessons

Happy December, sweet San Saba loves! Mom says it is not only Christmas month, but the last month of the year for us. I screamed and asked her where she planned to go and to please take me with her!! Mom hugged me and invited me to find the beauty and love in 2025 with her!

I am not sure what the scientific name for cold weather having an effect on mental state is…brain freeze? I wish you guys could see how I run in the yard like a runaway locomotive! In warm months, I saunter around the area, but the cold weather makes me speed as if I am on an Indy 500 racetrack! I turn around and laugh because I see mom trying to keep up with me which is like a slug trying to catch a frightened rabbit!

I know, I should not make light of mom’s failing health; she is dealing with it. I will say there is a part of me that enjoys her slowing down a bit because she spends time doting on me. What? That makes me a bit of a narcissist? I shan’t disagree with you; however, I so love being the center of her universe! Now don’t think for a moment my dachshund life is without strife. You should go outside shirtless and lie on the ground when frost covers it, and you will experience a dachshunds woes firsthand! Wonder if your favorite food was on a counter you know you will never be able to reach… torture!! Imagine having paws instead of fingers, and the only way you can express yourself was to use a language no human understands? Wow, writing all that made me sad…I think I will go ask for a treat!

I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Mom and I spent a quiet day at home which made the day like every other. I am not experienced with holiday celebrations, but I have watched someone on television make hollandaise sauce! “What, mom… that is a poor analogy? I don’t recall asking for your literary intervention.”

Well, sorry for the interruption; it seems I need to go speak to mom about the rules of engagement when I am composing.

Stay warm, take good care of yourself, and we love you so much!
