Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello there, wonderful San Saba friends. We sure hope you had a great week since last we spoke. For me, the week was a mixture of the good, bad, and ugly, and no I did not get a movie contract.

My ridiculous dachshund appetite is a subject of conversation and conflict every single day. Mom cooks all my food so I am allowed to special order nourishment. Every time mom opens the refrigerator door, I am there perusing available culinary choices. I love mom, but I don’t think anyone taught her how to shop properly as our fridge is mostly empty other than unsweetened tea, a few cheese slices, and whatever pittance she put together for me. I do not have a restricted diet. I want to see T-bones (not the car wreck kind), hamburger, and other varied protein selections. Did you know when mom makes me chicken she acts as if it is going to come back to life and sue her for wrongful death! I have explained a million times I love protein but not in liquid drink form! The woman gets upset when I chew on a leaf and yet feeds me as if I was a plant! I am a dachshund; I need real sources of protein, not plant based reproductions! I welcome your help on this matter, so should you see mom around town, please bark at her!

I found out this week I am not a fan of cold weather. I spend much of my time out on the porch soaking up the sun, but when the air grows cold, I spend time out there shivering. We have discussed my aversion to clothes, but I may have to give in and begin wearing sweaters soon. I have seen dogs in costumes, dresses and even shoes, and I can promise I will never fall into that category. I may just get an outside blanket. I do not think I should adorn my dachshund self in clothes when I am so adorable just as I am. No, I am not conceited; humans tell me I am adorable all the time. I sure wouldn’t think they were pulling the wool over my eyes as that would mean I would be wearing a sweater!!

I so enjoy talking to you each week. My life and story may not be big news and actually very ordinary, but my love of you and sharing my life with you is extraordinary! Thank you for listening…love, Lenny
