Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, my precious San Saba loves, and I need not ask how your week was as I see raindrops on your cheeks. I have mainly perched on the back of the couch looking out at the rain soaking our world and playing dachshund bored games. No, that was not a misuse of a word.

You know what I wish? I wish I had a mom who cooked when the weather was awful, but nooo! Want to know what mom does… she cleans and organizes! I am writing this column from the top shelf of a book stand in front of the dictionary and after Caverns of Texas! Hey, in her crazy mind, that is where dachshunds should go! I heard her mumble something about the Dewey Decimal System and hoped she didn’t hear my reply about the Texas penal system.

I see mom painting all the time, and I have been thinking my tail would make a lovely paint brush. I had what I thought an amazing idea… I could dip my tail in paint, walk along the walls of each room painting a lovely border as I go. Yep, I could become my very own dachshund border control!

I have a new favorite food combination! Mom has been feeding me oatmeal mixed with chicken and pumpkin. Yes, it sounds crazy and weird, but hey, do you actually read what I write??? Yeah, makes sense I would like it, huh? Speaking of tasty morsels…I am loving me summer because so many tasty dead bugs to sample!!

Sometimes I worry about mom because she takes life so personally…like when bad things happen and she can’t make it better. It is weird, because if something horrible happens to her, she is perfectly fine, but for someone else, her heart breaks. I would say mom would give others the shirt off her back, but that would be a lie… she is very reserved and shy in that way, but she would clear out her closet and pretty much every room in our house. There is only one thing off limits, and that is me! I guess I will just have to continue to share my heart in print.

I want such good things for you sweet San Saba friends! Love, Lenny
