Hey there, dearest San Saba friends, and how have you been this past week? I realize humans associate summer with fun, vacations, and things such as homemade ice cream socials, but for this dachshund, it has felt more like a trial run with a barbecue pit!
I cannot believe we are already in July! It feels like we are all in a movie and someone hit the fast-forward button! I don’t mind so much for myself, I am a young dachshund. But mom, well, let’s just say fine wine may age well, but mom is aging like she has been packed in wrinkle cream that was made to cause wrinkles! Hey, I am not being cruel, I love mom more than anything; however, dogs are honest, well, unless they are sneaking bites of food off plates when no one’s looking!
Mom told me she had the opportunity to meet two precious dogs while shopping at Lowe’s. She said one was a little black chihuahua who wasn’t able to walk. Mom said the man who owned the little guy was such a sweetheart and obviously felt about his buddy the way mom feels about me! Then the other day, mom met a lady who takes her dog everywhere with her, even to evening church services! Um, I believe mom and I need to have a long sit down conversation because the kennel thing is not working out for me!
Another group of finches took over our abandoned porch nest, and we have bird babies again! Mom and I went out to the porch yesterday to the most heart breaking thing! One of the baby birds had somehow fallen from the nest onto the cement and died! We made sure the baby was taken away and told the other babies to please not lean over the edge of the nest!
I asked mom how come we don’t have any squirrels in our yard, and our friend Mandy said it is because they are all in her yard! Is that allowed? Can someone be a squirrel hoarder? I don’t think it is fair! If I wanted to chase something, I get a choice between flies or mosquitoes… not fun!! I want some sport to my sprint!
Well my sweet friends, this is leaning toward verbosity…I hope you have a beautiful and safe week! Happy 4th of July! Be responsible…
Love, Lenny
