Hey there, San Saba loves. I am composing this on Mother’s Day, but for me, every day is for treating mom with loving care. The woman goes out of her way to provide my life with every comfort, see to my every need, and to make sure my happiness is her main priority. Mandy Houge Finch is always saying when mom goes grocery shopping, everything in the basket is food for me except for her unsweetened tea! Ask me if that upsets me and then guess my answer!
Speaking of mommies and their children, we have a baby bird!! Finches built a nest at the top of our porch, and we now have four squawking little ones! Mom and I were sitting out on the porch when we witnessed an all out finch war! A strange finch female came and tried to take over the nest and brought her male mate with her. Well, the mom finch came flying in like a jet war plane and the fight was on!! She was soon joined by her mate, and we had birds flying, swooping, and zooming all around us! I am happy to report the kidnapping was unsuccessful, and the babies are safely with their parents.
I am sad to report the mom cat has moved her kittens to another location. She left me a note threatening to charge me with Stalking! Okay, yes I spent almost all my backyard time standing at the fence staring at them, and yes, I might have done some rather high pitched whining, but I refuse to call it stalking!
Sometimes I have a real problem with the English language; it confused me. Mom and I were sitting out on the porch when a butterfly came fluttering by. I tried with all my dachshund self to take a bite of it. Mom had a horrified look on her face and asked what I was doing? I told her I loved the taste of butter! I wish I could describe the sound of her laughter! I now know butterflies would not taste good on toast. Hey, you learn something new every day.
I have decided every day of my life is I Love My Friends Day, and each of you are a part of that. Thank you for being a part of my silly world, my strange dachshund thoughts, and life ponderings. Have a beautiful week and know this…I love you… Lenny
