Hello, beautiful San Saba loves! It may seem as if the world is one disaster after another, one sad occurrence piled in heaps upon our senses; but there is always hope, help, and happiness to follow. I follow happiness every single day; I call her mom.
I do have to admit, mom’s happiness does have the ability to irritate me at times as it welcomes intruders to our lives with a willingness and a smile. We have a cat that has made our yard its home for several hours every single day! Mom thinks this cat is adorable, beautiful, lovely, while I see it as an uninvited, unwanted, attention stealer!! Mom sits out on the porch speaking to it in a kind and loving voice; I sit out on the porch screaming at it to get it to leave! It just looks at us a both as if we have quite lost our minds and only departs when it is quite ready to do so! I am not a rude dachshund, nor am I unfriendly; I just enforce the boundaries of what I consider my sanctuary!
Mom recently asked her sister, Carol, if their mom had their older siblings at home in England like on the show Call the Midwife. Well, believe it or not, the answer was yes, as two of them were born during World War II, blackouts in London and such! To use a great British expression… mom was a bit gobsmacked! How time, medical changes have transformed our world! Speaking of which, I had to see Dr Adam and have a delicate procedure performed to my hind end I did not appreciate one bit! I suppose mom felt sorry for me because we stopped by Lowe’s after and I got the most wonderful hugs from Barbara, the very sweet woman who checked us out at the register! I think she could have hugged me all day long, and I would let her!
Mom told me we are almost half way through October and soon enough will be preparing for the holiday season. I gave her a rather blank stare and replied, “Why? Mom, you don’t eat turkey, we have no one with whom to celebrate, and do you really think Amazon is going to let a dachshund order Christmas presents?” Mom smiled at me and replied…“my holidays have never been about those things, Lenny, but how my heart feels during the time of year they occur.” I guess mom and I will have something to celebrate!
We hope you have an amazing week, sweet San Saba friends. I will try to accept that cat being in our yard and share the lovely space we have made here. Mom and I love you so much, and you are welcomed to sit in my yard anytime!
