Hello, dearest San Saba loves! I quite feel as if I should be wearing a top hat, eating fish and chips, and cheering at a football game for players kicking around a ball on a soccer field as mom is trying to turn me into a British dachshund! We have watched Call the Midwife, The Crown and began watching Downton Abbey!! Look, I understand mom misses her mom, but I thought if I heard one more woman scream and cry giving birth, I would swallow the remote and only watch shows with animals as main characters! At one point, I resorted to howling, and dachshunds do not normally howl!
You know, people often say they want to live like a king or queen, but after watching The Crown I do not want any part of it! There are too many rules, too many do’s and don’t’s! I like being the boss and not others being the boss of me! I don’t want to be all formal either! I bet they would scream at me if I asked where the cornbread was at a state dinner!! They would probably have someone follow me around with a vacuum cleaner, vacuuming my whole body! Nope, not having it!
Not to sound like a grump, but just when the yard was getting to a lovely hiding length, mom goes and ruins my fun by mowing the yard! Why must she have everything so neat and tidy? Doesn’t she realize what is merely ankle-high grass for her is like a magic jungle for this dachshund? Yep, the crickets, beetles, and grasshoppers that hide among the green blades offer so much running, chasing, jumping! She takes the surprise out of my day!
If you’re thinking I am being a grouch this week, you would not be wrong. Mom told me the other day I woke up on the wrong side of the week and became a teenager! She thinks she is so funny! Personally, being happy, adorable and irresistible gets boring so I decided to add a bit salt to my sausage dog existence. Don’t get me wrong, I still snuggle next to mom 24/7, stare at her with adoring eyes; I just like to be irritating sometimes!
I sincerely hope you have a wonderful week, try out your British accent, tea and crumpets, and know always how much mom and I love you!
