Aloha, sweet San Saba loves, and what have you guys been up to this past week? If you think my greeting strange, you would understand if you knew how long the conversations are mom has with her sister, Carol, who lives in Hawaii. Carol has lived in Honolulu for 50 years and is a recently retired oncology nurse. I get irritated and jealous when mom talks to Carol because I feel as though I may as well be paint on the wall! There is less than two years difference in their ages and they share a lifetime of memories I know nothing about…so irritating! If you are wondering if this dachshund is a bit possessive when it comes to mom’s time, wonder no more!
Case in point of my insane jealousy... we were starting our day at two in the morning, as usual, when we saw a frequent visitor in our yard, a red and white Corgi. Later that day, he reappears in our yard and then starts running the streets dodging cars and they him! I do what I do and bark at him, but mom gets her phone and goes outside! She manages to coax the little guy over to her, pets him, sees he is wearing a collar and grabs hold! Mom called Jason and sat outside loving on that Corgi for 20 minutes until he showed up to make sure he did not end up roadkill!! Yep, I saw the whole thing through the window, and I screamed, cried and pleaded with mom to stop. But she just held on to that little guy and even gave his filthy self belly rubs!! It isn’t that I wished him evil, never, but mom belongs to me!! We sure do feel our hearts break over how so many people just let their animals roam as if they do not matter! We love San Saba so much, but people responsible for animals can surely do better. We would have nightmares forever to be witness to an animal being injured!
Speaking of being injured…I never know from one moment to the next where the furniture in our tiny house is going to be placed! I might take a nap, wake up and find the bed hanging from the ceiling!! It isn’t that mom gets bored, it is she cannot figure out an arrangement she finds aesthetically pleasing with the most functional use, or it could be she is just completely weird! I wish furniture could speak so it could tell her… “touch me and you will turn into an actual couch potato!”
You know how I love chicken more than anything. Well this past week, I literally found the spice of life in the form of cake! Evidently, when mom was a kid, her British mom liked to make spice cakes, and so mom got one to make and oh my gosh, this dachshund is addicted!! I told mom to cut it up into pieces, put it in the freezer because it is my new snack!! No, I am not spoiled rotten, I am loved rotten!
Have a wonderful week, my adorable friends. If you take a wonderful vacation, please don’t forget to come home! You are the real spice of my life, and I love you so very much!
