This is our second year for the Hill Of country Cattle Women's Beef Cook Off. The entry fee is the prize money we award.
It is open to students in our 14 ,county region. Last year, we had 8 teams. We were so impressed by their knowledge of food handling and prep. They were required to explain their food process, sanitary food prep, and the nutritional value of the dish. They were also judged on presentation and taste. Several area schools sent teams from their culinary arts class. We had teams of siblings, 4-H teams and home schoolers and friends who just thought it would be fun. And it was! Everyone loved the event. The judges had a great time talking to the young chefs and tasting their creations. Their creativity was wonderful. I served as a judge last year, but was told I could not this year as I wanted to give everyone first place. The cuteness factor, their outfits and maturity level of speaking won me over. We invite you to come, watch and cheer on these young chefs at this great event. It is free to watch.
