Geo. Horton, secretary of the San Saba Chamber of Commerce and Fair Association, announces that Miss Patsey Jean Horton, born July 2nd, will be liable to win the first prize as the finest girl in the 1926 baby show.
A wedding of interest among our younger set took place in San Saba when Miss Iva Benson became the bride of Mr. Roy Miller. The young married folks are at present at home with the groom's mother.
Through the courtesy of the Fairman Company the ladies' rest room at the court house is being supplied with sanitary drinking cups. We are sure this is appreciated by all the ladies who patronize the rest room.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Hennersdorf of San Angelo are the proud parents of a daughter born July 1st. The little miss was named Alvina Maxine. Mrs. Hennersdorf was formerly Miss Alvina Arhelger of this city.
70 Years Ago July 5, 1956
Miss Bobbie Lee Locker joined Mr. and Mrs. Jim C. Clark and son, Gordon, in Casper, Wyo., two weeks ago and the group made a tour through Yellowstone National Park and other scenic places in the area.
Mrs. David O'Neal, age 86, of Comanche, was recognized as being the oldest lady registered at the San Saba County Old Settlers Reunion. A native of Coryell county, she was married when she was 18 and moved to San Saba county three years later ( about 1891) where she and her husband bought a farm near China Creek.
A 62-foot screen tower of the Corral Drive-In theatre located about one mile south of San Saba was destroyed by fire when a grass fire got out of control. Abe Willis, theatre manage, said that the tower will be rebuilt within about seven weeks. A number of the films scheduled at The Corral will be shown instead at The Palace Theatre in San Saba.
