San Saba VFD responded to a house fire at 6th and Church streets. Firemen were able to contain the fire to one room, with minimal water damage to the rest of the house. Fire probably started because of a hot water vent in the kitchen, damaging one wall and the immediate roof area of the room. No one was home at that time.

It was a great night for the children and all who came out for the Christmas season opening in San Saba. Anticipation ran high in the brisk cold evening, with many awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. Preparations all day led up to the highlight of the evening. Santa's house was erected, decorations were hung, lights replaced, the Christmas tree put in place. People began arriving and visiting just after the sun set. There were coffee and cocoa, chili, sweets and warm fire to sit by. Shopkeepers opened their doors to small to small groups of shoppers throughout the evening. Letters to Santa were mailed. All in all, it was a Christmas program to remember, even if the Grinch tried to steal it away!
