Recharged

Batteries are a necessity in some cases. The automobiles that we drive will not start without a battery. We have cordless tools (drill, saws, etc.) that use a rechargeable battery. When you do not have electricity where you are working, these come in very handy. The telephones and wireless devices we use have need of battery power to keep them active and usable. The hearing aids we use need batteries so we can communicate with one another.

The problem with batteries is that they will run down and they are not of help to us any longer. As we all know, living in the electronic age, we plug into a power source and recharge the battery and continue on with our tools or electronics or hearing aids.

We use a nine volt battery for some of our smoke and carbon dioxide alarms. Others may use a DC, AA or AAA to help us see (flashlight), listen to music (CD player), and the list goes on. These batteries can be costly after a while.

Here is a thought to ponder: Do we ever get run down and need to be recharged ourselves? I believe that we do. There are times that we need to take better care of ourselves. The reason we are running low is because we have no energy. Could it be that we are not eating right? Is there a possibility that we are not getting enough water to keep hydrated? Could it be that we are not getting enough rest? When we are physically run down, these occur. By eating properly, drinking water and getting the sleep we need at night, we can continue to go on.

But part of our problem could be that we are not getting the spiritual recharge that we need. This can only come from our association with God and His church. Notice the words that Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (NASB) When we ignore the reading or studying the Bible, when we do not attend church services (I realize that COVID has hampered some in this), when we neglect to thank God for all that He has given us, then we need to be spiritually recharged.

Today, if you are not doing as well as you could or should be doing, will you not find a new direction. Like our electronics, we have to have the power source. That power source is the God who made heaven and earth. And He is near to every one of us. If you’re running low on power let the One who has all power charge you. (Matthew 28:18-20) Be obedient to His teachings and follow Him. Then you will see a change in your life.
