It’s Beautiful

Spring is a wonderful time of the year for me. I love to see the flowers come back to life after a period of rest for the winter. The bluebonnets are always beautiful, and all the other flowers are as well.

We have some lilies that bloom once a year in our yard. They only last about a week or so, but they are beautiful. They came from a bulb that Cyndi was given by one of our church members in Cherokee. When it blooms, the flowers remind me of trumpet or trombone shape at the end. They are pink and white and are gorgeous to look at. Cyndi brought these with her when we left Cherokee, and they actually grew this year as well. (Even made it through the freeze we had.)

As beautiful as these are, there is something much more beautiful. It is when a soul learns the truth of God’s word and their lives are changed from one of sinful pleasures and passions and they become new creations.

Note this passage of Scripture from the book of 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (NASB) What a beautiful thing when a life has been full of ugliness and darkness and now has become cleansed. Paul reminded the brethren in Rome what they did to become cleansed in Romans 6:3-5, “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,”

There are many people that are still living a life that is opposed to God. They have not surrendered their will to God’s will, and there is nothing beautiful about that. But the one who surrenders to do His will is a “sweet smelling aroma” to Him. Just like the beautiful scent from the flowers that bloom, so are we to God. It is imperative that each person examines their lives to see if they are pleasing the Creator. If you have not done this, what keeps you from doing so? God is willing to save all people, and when they surrender to Him, their lives are changed.

The important thing to do after becoming a Christian is to live it every day of your life. Are you doing this?
