You are invited to attend a program to honor Sion Record Bostick (1819 - 1902).
The Program is being presented by his Descendants as this is the 190th Anniversary Remembrance & Dedication Ceremony - Battle of San Jacinto, (April 21, 1836) The ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 18th, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Mr. Bostick is buried in this cemetery and also has a historical marker here. He was one of the men who captured Santa Anna.
Mr. Bostick took part in and served as a soldier in the Texas Republic Army (at most battles to win Texas Independence).
At the age of 16 years, 4 months, he faught in the Battle of San Jacinto.
The next day, April 22, 1836, he and two other men captured General Santa Anna and returned him to General Sam Houston.
Mr. Bostick was also a Texas Ranger.
Mr Bostick arrived in San Saba in the mid 1870’s where he made his home. He was the proprietor of the Monterey House hotel which stood across from the Courthouse.
This program on Saturday is open to the public, and we encourage the public to attend.
