Alice in Wonder Land

At the Widow's Group on Saturday, January 28th, here in Zanesville, Ohio, there were concerns and situations that we prayed for: medical tests, surgery and one need to move to assisted living. There was a special bond knowing how much God has directed our lives and helping us in all situations.

God helped me when my husband Larry was in Mexico and I was alone with my sharpai/lab Lady Magnolia (Maggie) on 9th Street in San Saba. I was watching TV (no lights on) late at night when a knock came at the door and Maggie barked. I called my neighbors the Vaughn's (lights on at their house) and shortly a police car drove by. By that time, I saw the man going from my house to the next house that had lights on and known to have parties. I later found out it was Officer Brown, can't remember his first name but later became Sheriff Brown. I worked at the San Saba News & Star, and he would come in whistling and greet me with “Hi Sunshine!” Years later, Larry stopped and visited him on the way to Mexico, I believe in Kingsland.

Looking through the January 19th San Saba News & Star, I read Bonnie Fay (Woods) Crawford's obituary. I did not know her, but after reading about her life wished I had known her. Whoever wrote the obit certainly has the ability to write a book.

In one of my husband's sermons, he talked about athletes. They compete for a win. A winner: 1. Plays by the rules. 2. Experience and skill. 3. Execution. We as Christians compete for the prize of heaven, and our rule book is the B-I-B-L-E... and implementing the three qualifications for a winner.
