It was another great week for Cherokee football. The junior high Indians fought hard on the road in Lometa. The Indians won 28 to 20. According to Coach Shipman, “Key offensive plays were turned in by Joel Valdez. A good team defense was led by Emmett Jones. All team members played and did a great job.” Great job, CJH! It was a victorious week for the varsity team as well as they rose above undefeated Mullin. The Indians shut out the visitors with a score of 47-0 in the third quarter. Coach White says, “Tristian Arkansas had a standout defensive game and had two interceptions that he returned for touchdowns. Hunter Wisdom played well defensively and added an extra-point reception. Weston Stiefel and Joey Bond were dominant on both sides of the ball. Erick Miller had a nice catch and run from Tristian Arkansas for an 18-yard touchdown.”

Friday night was also Cherokee’s homecoming. Freshman class duchess was Maycie Shanklin. Sophomore class duchess was Laci Wagner. Junior class duchess was Kaitlin Joiner. Senior nominees were Allie Berrio and Kendall Johnson. Kendall Johnson was crowned our 2020 homecoming queen by former homecoming queen, Raegan Bond.

The Indians are looking forward to another great game against county rivals, Richland Springs Coyotes.

Good luck, Indians!
