The San Saba High School girls’ varsity basketball team picked up three victories over the last week of their games to improve to a perfect 13-0 mark on the season.

Now ranked at No. 3 in the Class 2A rankings for girls’ basketball, the Lady Dillos continued their dominance this season with wins over Goldthwaite High School, Johnson City High School, and Salado High School.

San Saba opened up its 2A District 29 schedule on the road Tuesday, December 15, against rival Goldthwaite High School as Lady Dillos head coach Alicia Cummings and her squad were able to cruise to an impressive 54-32 victory against the Lady Eagles.

Leading 18-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Dillos were able to balloon that lead to 31-15 at halftime and simply did not look back the rest of the way.

Lady Dillos’ senior guard Courtnee Cash led all scorers on the night with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc, while fellow San Saba senior guard Brighton Adams scored in double figures on the night with 12 points.

Also scoring for the Lady Dillos against the host Lady Eagles were San Saba’s Nojemi Martinez with four points, Landri Glover with four points, Jadeah Lambert with three points, Braycie Vickery with three points, Lexy Amthor with two points, Karlee Reed with two points, and Madison Shahan with two points.

Perhaps the easiest win of the 2020-21 season for the Lady Dillos came on Friday, December 18, at home as San Saba thrashed visiting district foe Johnson City High School 74-8.

On December 21 during the early stages of Christmas Break, the Lady Dillos went on the road Monday afternoon and picked up their 13th win of the season against a very good 4A non-district foe in Salado High School by defeating them 44-32.

Back on December 11, this same Salado Lady Eagles’ team was able to go on the road and knock off San Saba’s district rival Mason High School 41-40.

For the San Saba boys’ varsity basketball squad, their undefeated run at 5-0 came to an end with a very hard-fought 52-47 loss on December 15 at home to a 9-0 San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy team.

Unfortunately for the Dillos, they fell to 5-2 on December 21 as 4A non-district foe Lampasas High School came to San Saba and shot the ball lights out en route to a dominant 81-39 victory to improve to 10-1.
