As we continue through the month of September, football season is officially in full swing as San Saba High School, Richland Springs High School, and Cherokee High School continue their young seasons at the varsity level.

San Saba (3-0) at Llano (3-0)

Oh boy, this is going to be a great game.

Both of these teams, who have not played each other since 1997, are matched up for the first time in over two decades as the Llano High School Yellowjackets continue to make their long-awaited transition from 4A-II down to 3A-I this year for athletics.

San Saba continues to dominate its opponents on offense with a stellar rushing attack and a suffocating defense that thrives on forcing turnovers.

The Dillos have outscored their first three opponents this season by an eye-opening 112- 35 (+77) point margin through three games, including a 32-0 shutout win on the road against Mason High School last Friday night, but will face their toughest foe yet this Friday night when they travel to take on Llano during the Jackets’ homecoming week.

Llano is coming off of three straight dominant victories: 45-16 in their home opener vs. Gatesville High School, 41-8 at Sonora High School, and last week’s 52-0 blowout on the road at Bandera High School.

Richland Springs (1-0) at Faith Academy (0-0)

It’s been a very weird start to the season for the defending six-man football champions as they’ve only played one contest, a 55-8 rout of Austin Royals HomeSchool back on September 4.

The Coyotes were supposed to play on the road at Crowell High School on September 10, but the field conditions were ruled unfit due to heavy rainstorms throughout the week heading into the contest.

Richland Springs High School will officially get to play its first road contest this week on Friday night as the Coyotes travel to take on Faith Academy down in Marble Falls.

Cherokee (2-1) vs. Gustine (2-1)

This Indians’ varsity football squad already has as many wins as it did the entire 2019 season.

Cherokee High School faces a tough test on Friday night at home as they host Gustine High School.

Last Friday night vs. Sidney High School, the Indians scored often during the first half of their 48-28 victory with a whopping 36 of the points coming in the second quarter alone.
