The first blue norther on Monday brought a taste of winter and colder temperatures this week. This is the last week in the month of October. Friday, October 30th, is also the end of the second six-week grading period. It is hard to believe that this means that one-third of the 2020-2021 school has been completed.

COVID case updates from Marsha Hardy, Emergency Management Coordinator for San Saba County, reveal 31 active cases in San Saba County. There are now five deaths due to COVID in San Saba County. With each update to schools, Marsha Hardy includes this message: “Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!” We are fortunate to be in Richland Springs!

October is National Principals’ Month. We celebrate our principal, Rhonda Wyatt, for her leadership and dedication to excellence in education! As you know, school leadership is vital to the success of all students. The motto of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals is, “Above All, Students First.” Education is a key to success!

The Lady Coyotes have been preparing and practicing for the 2020-2021 season. Coach Dara Chandler and the varsity girl’s high school basketball pre-season kicks off this Saturday with the varsity girls’ first scrimmage at Goldthwaite. Come out and support these young athletes in action.

Junior high football continues this week. The Richland Springs junior high Coyotes will host the Lohn Eagle’s junior high team at Coyote Field on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Come out and support these young athletes and cheerleaders in action; you won’t be disappointed! The varsity Coyotes have a bye this week, as Prairie Lea has cancelled this week’s scheduled game.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.

Community involvement is the key to our success!
