School districts continue to remain focused on the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis first and foremost. Governor Abbott’s March 31, 2020 Executive Order requires all school districts to remain closed through May 4, 2020. Texas schools are closing (not allowing students on campus) and having students remain at home and send instruction to students. RSISD campus is closed March 23, 2020 through May 4, 2020. These dates can be extended. As with all school districts, Richland Springs ISD is working to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus. Our primary goal is the safety of our community, students and staff.

Staff has varied methods for homebound instruction, from internet instruction to packet pick-up. Some students will continue to pick up work packets from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Monday. Teachers at Richland Springs will stay in contact with students and parents. Instruction at grade levels differs, from online Google Classroom to printed lessons with parent packet pick-up. During these changing times you find our teachers, staff and administrators lending a hand and going above the call of duty. We as a society continue to require more and more from our schools, and they always deliver, seemingly against all odds. Over the last few weeks, we have been witness to our staff pulling together as a team to educate our students, or simply letting students know they are missed. A small school is a great environment because we all know each other. We are a community coming together in this crisis. Everyone is currently experiencing some sort of loss: sports seasons, theatre productions, prom, and the regular day-to day operations. The ‘new normal’ during COVID-19 is being experienced by everyone in their own way. Contact Principal Rhonda Wyatt with your concerns and questions. We are here to work with parents and students to complete this school year in a safe-as-possible manner.

Please look at the information on this webpage. According to the webpage there are a few simple routines that will help mitigate the spread COVID-19.

There are simple steps everyone can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses like COVID-19:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Stay home when you are sick.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Eight weeks remain in the 2019-2020 school year. Please pray for our schools and our country.

We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. We must educate ourselves and become knowledgeable on COVID-19. Working together we can overcome any obstacle! Thanks for all you do!
