Mary Katherine Nelson Cason, age 84, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Hockley County, Texas to Joseph Lee and Angie Paris Nelson. Mary married Dewey Mack Cason in Lamesa, Texas on January 16, 1958. She was devoted to God, her husband, and raising her children. She also had a love for art and gardening. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family deeply. Mary was full of humor; people loved her dry wit and many “sayings”. Above all, she loved Jesus and could be found every morning sitting in her chair, drinking coffee, while studying her Bible and praying. She possessed a true servant’s heart, demonstrated by her service in the church and community. In the church she served as a WMU and GA leader, Sunday School teacher, Operation Christmas Child volunteer, in the women’s ministry, and in the many visitation ministries including widows, hospitals, nursing homes and shut ins. Mary was also a former member of the Garden Club of San Saba. She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be missed.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Scott and Shelia Meador of San Saba, Texas, Shara and David Wright of San Saba, Texas, Michael and Leslie Cason of Santa Anna, Texas, Angie Lenegar of Collierville, TN, and Lenora and Joel Cromer of Schertz, Texas; 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters; Ruth Williams and Elizabeth Davis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dewey Mack Cason, her parents, and two brothers, Daniel L. Nelson and W.S. Nelson.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at San Saba’s First Baptist Church in San Saba, Texas from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at San Saba’s First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at San Saba Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas.
