If I’m correct, this “Small Town Hero,” was off doing his life in Fort Worth,Texas. As the state hit hard times, Raul Rocha came home to be with family when he found out his Abuelita (Grandma) was very sick.

With that being said, he found out that she passed away on February 14th, early in the morning. But the state of Texas was getting a ridiculous blizzard, and San Saba only had a few options to shop at. The storm hit so hard leaving the City of San Saba with no power and water for days.

The City only had a few options to shop at, but Rick’s One Stop made it happen because even with no power, people could still shop if they had cash. The store would never close. I would come to the store every time the power would come back on, and Raul would always have a big smile on his face and “tried to be positive” as we all knew it’s been hard on him and his family.

Raul and the owners of Rick’s One Stop made it happen. Several times I saw Raul running from the pumps to the clerk (Kriti) to pay for the gas and pump people’s fuel. It was so intense that I even saw Raul fall a few times in the ice and get back up like nothing happened. It was like seeing him and wondering, how is he really doing it and actually making it happen?

Another time I went to Rick's One Stop, Raul was making pizzas for customers and running back and forth checking up on his bosses, Kriti and Basue, asking them what needed to get done at the store. That shows a strong working character. Raul Rocha stepped up for his community and showed everyone that if he can take all this in a very hard time, then we can all survive. And, now let’s show support for his family and Rick’s One Stop. Thanks for everything that you did, Raul! You are showing the world to have hope, and I can say that your Abuelita is guiding you for success.
