The Richland Springs Report

We’re roaring through March. I’ve pulled out my winter clothes and turned up the heater on the mattress pad. My light at the end of the tunnel is ... warm weather returns by Wednesday. Hopefully, I will have fruit left on my trees, my new potato plants will not be blackened by frost, and the lemons will still be growing on my lemon trees. Welcome to Texas weather, all you folks who are moving from cold states to God’s garden.

The One Act Play group is headed to Marble Falls on Thursday to compete in the Bi-District competition. On schedule for the next few weeks is UIL academic competitions held in Rochelle, and of course our wonderful STAAR tests for grades 3-12 will be taken mid-April.

Mid-April is also the highly anticipated Richland Springs Trade Days.

Jason Lewis and the committee have lined up close to 100 vendors for Saturday April 15th. The Feedlot will be the primary venue, but don’t forget our local vendors downtown. All vendors have been asked to post the event on their pages. Jason will be speaking on the radio, and you should see some newspaper ads. Please save your money and turn up for this special event. The profits go to the restoration of the Old Bank Building.

The Ladies Quilting and Bible group has stopped weekly meetings for the summer, but they will meet one day a month for a day-long sew-in. This past Monday was the March Day; Debbie Phelan will let me know when the April meeting is to be held.

Mondo Garcia brought his extended family together to celebrate his heavenly mom’s birthday. He had quite a turnout. I can guarantee there was some good food on the table. Mondo is a multitalented man, and cooking is one of those talents. What a wonderful way to celebrate a loved one that has gone to see Jesus.

Our local churches are praying for Jasper Farris’s dad. Doctors are attempting to stem an infection in his leg, but they are having difficulties at this point. Mark Wise is recovering well from his heart attack. We are thankful for his return to health. Lesa Landrum reported that her surgery went well, and she is looking forward to restoration of her back health. Our church has an entire slide full of names with cancer issues. Please keep the sick in the community, our country, our government and our open border in your prayers. It makes me a little uncomfortable to read that the cartels have control of sections of our border. Pray for our border agents, our police and first responders, and most of all, our precious troops and their families.
