Recycling in San Saba

Body

All San Saba households, if they choose, will be provided a 65-gallon roll-out container in which to place recyclables. San Saba's recycling program is a commingled process. That means no sorting is necessary of the recyclable materials. Place all accepted materials in the container provided by the City of San Saba. Please ensure that paper materials are clean and dry. Please lightly rinse containers and discard lids before placing containers in the recycling cart.

The carts will be picked up the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Place your cart at your garbage collection point by 7:00 a.m. NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE

The City of San Saba recycles the following materials through its curbside program:

Plastic Bottles: narrownecked containers such as soft drink and water bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc. (please rinse and dispose of lids in your regular garbage.)

Cans: Empty aluminum, steel and tin cans (please rinse)

Clean paper items: Newspapers, inserts & magazines, phonebooks, junk mail and office paper.

Boxboard: Dry food boxes such as cereal boxes with liners removed, shoe boxes, etc.

The City of San Saba DOES NOT recycle the following, and they are not to be place in the container:

No glass of any kind

No plastic bags or plastic wrap No oil, paint or pesticide

No oil, paint or pesticide bottles or containers, or other hazardous material

No trash or yard waste

No soiled or wet newspaper

About 41% of what most people throw away is paper. Virtually all clean paper is recyclable. Please place only dry paper and cardboard in your recycling cart. Newspaper that has gotten wet and then dried should NOT be recycled; moisture destroys the paper fiber and make it too brittle, even if it has dried completely. Please do not place these items in recycling: paper towels, tissue, napkins, paper plates and cups, waxed corrugated boxes and waxed paperboard boxes, pizza boxes and other food boxes that have grease, oil or moisture on them.

San Saba's recycling program is the most user-friendly method of collecting recyclable waste. That means you put all acceptable paper, cardboard, plastic and metal in your recycling container.

Please DO NOT place the recycling items in plastic bags. They can go into the cart loose and mixed together. The items are sorted at the recycling center. Recycling for a cleaner city

By reducing the amount of waste your household generates, you're not only helping the environment, but creating a cleaner San Saba. Recycling saves a variety of resources including energy, water, minerals and trees. You also help reduce pollution through recycling. And finally, you help San Saba meet the goal of reducing the amount of solid waste going to our regional landfill. We're proud of our city, and we want to help keep all of Texas beautiful!
