Hello there, my San Saba dears, and how are you? I have to say I became a little more worried about mom this past week. First of all, her color was a cross between the walls and the couch which meant she was a whitish/beige…not at all attractive! Second, I caught her trying to drink out of my water bowl a few times which tells me she is thinking she is my sibling, and I had to remind her she is my human mom and NOT a dachshund! Third, she kept scratching her ears just as I do! I will be forced to take drastic measures if she messes with my meals! If she suddenly has a craving for Hill’s Science Diet Special Chicken Blend…she and I will have real problems! Parentals can be so much work, and a mom who has been forced to stay inside forever is like wrangling an angry bee!

I have a question…if humans love car chases so much, why do they hate it when dogs chase cars? Dad is always telling mom when he walks me that I want to chase anything on wheels and how it upsets him. I hate all things with motors…I want to kill them! The list is not limited to cars, bicycles, motorcycles, blenders, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, automatic wine openers, hair dryers, and well, you get the idea. I laugh at dad because when he uses one of those items and I start barking…the thing is making noise, I am making noise, and dad starts yelling at me - as if that is going to make me be quiet! It makes as much sense as pouring gasoline on a raging fire!

I am sad Old Man Scary Cellars is closed; dad told me about it. I don’t drink wine. In fact, I can’t stand to even smell the stuff when it is in dad’s glass, but I loved the people who ran the business! They knew me and welcomed me with opened hearts and such loving warmth anytime we visited. I believe any business closing in San Saba is a personal loss to us all whether we frequented it or not. I wish all my friends who were a part of Old Man Scary’s the very best!

America celebrated a birthday this week, and it was very old. I have seen movies of how the settlers dressed, and I know dad is happy he didn’t live in those days because he hates the heat! He would have been in a bad mood all the time with that ruffled shirt, heavy coat and hat on! If he would have said...“Give me liberty or give me death!”, he probably would have been talking about giving him some cooler clothes to wear! Mom would have been nothing like Betsy Ross... if she made a flag, it would have looked like a word jumble and no one would have known what it was supposed to be and they would have used it to wipe up spilled ale on the floor!

I hope you know how much I adore speaking to you every week, my adorable friends. I may not always make sense, and I may be silly. But always, always I have great love in my heart for you and best wishes for you. Please take care of yourselves and look out for others. Check on someone who may need assistance in obtaining supplies or might just need a hello from a friend. I hope you have a good week until we speak again, and thank you for being.
