The Texas Conference for Women, the largest conference for women in the state, is partnering with top employers from across the country to help women get back to work after COVID forced 2.3 million women out of the workforce.

Working mothers have been hit especially hard by the pandemic. In Texas, there are an estimated 2.5 million working mothers. Latinas and Black women have also been disproportionately affected. In Texas, 65.7 percent of Black women participate in the workforce, the highest participation rate among all women, and 56.7 percent of Hispanic women participate in the workforce.

Recognizing an urgent need, the Texas Conference for Women has built a diverse coalition of career job site organizations and nonprofits and more than a dozen corporations to connect women with employers who collectively have thousands of positions available. Many positions offer flex, remote, and hybrid opportunities in recognition of the untenable demands on working women who care for children or other family members.

The free virtual event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Time on October 6th, the day before the 22nd annual Texas Conference for Women. Registration is required. (Register here.)

Participating hiring organizations include Liberty Mutual, Cisco, Dell Technologies, IBM, Intel, Oracle, Q2, Raytheon Technologies, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, TEL, United Healthcare, Visa and more.

Participating community sponsors, including Fairygodboss, Ladies Get Paid, and Power to Fly, are joining with the Texas Conference for Women to help those looking for work find employment. These organizations will provide job search expertise and career advice onsite.

The Texas Conference for Women’s virtual career fair is the first in a nationwide series of events. Others will be held on:

• November 9th—the day before the 2021 Pennsylvania Conference for Women

• December 1st—the day before the 2021 Massachusetts Conference for Women

• March 1st—the day before the 2021 California Conference for Women.
