Hello there, my dearest San Saba loves, and how are you? The parentals and I have had kind of a rough time since last we spoke. My sister, Lani, called to tell us her husband, Roy, not only had tested positive for COVID but had to be rushed to the hospital with virus related pneumonia. Mom has been talking to her every day because she has been as nervous as a squirrel about to fall from a tree because she has not even been able to go to the hospital to see him. He is doing better and will probably get to come home sometime this week. Also dad’s youngest sister, Mary Ann, woke up to find her husband, Sonny, had died during the night. Sonny was such a sweet, gentle and kind man. We are all so sad even though we realize life and death happens to all humans.

I told mom the events of the past week made me think our silly way of seeing life makes perfect sense. She smiled, gave me a hug and said she agreed. Me, thinking her approval meant permission, I went down the steps, crossed the room to the other couch, grabbed the dad’s baseball hat off the top and ran with it like the wind! I only heard the tail end of mom’s words…“Herman stop!”

The parentals and I have an addiction problem, there I have I said it! Mom has been ordering Schwan’s again, and she gets these mini egg rolls. Well I have to tell you, they are like crack to us! Yesterday, dad tells mom he doesn’t want any egg rolls and has plans to eat other things. Mom decides to fix just a few for herself. Well, dad comes in, is intoxicated by the smell, eats half of what mom made, is upset because there was just a small amount and so gets up and makes more! I am telling you…we are fully addicted! I suppose there are worse addictions and much more fattening ones, too, but if we start to look like tiny, crusted roll-ups, we will definitely be in trouble.

I have a question…why when someone won’t do something do humans call them chicken? Do they think they are delicious, tasty, and crunchy and what is for lunch and dinner? I find human name calling the strangest thing! The other day I heard a girl call someone a pooh/pooh head! I looked at the girl she was calling that name and I saw blonde hair, a few freckles, but no pooh at all! I sure wish humans would make more sense!

Well my darlings, I suppose I have confused you enough for one day. I hope you have a lovely week until I am back to confuse more. I love you, my San Saba friends, ever so much. Keep those you love safe, close and those with whom you cannot be close to in your hearts. Have a wonderful week, and thank you for being!
