By Oscar Zepeda

San Saba JLD (32-1) picked up their fourth tournament championship in a row last Saturday, May 6, in Lingleville, Texas. The Lady Dillos entered the tournament with several injuries to key players but that would not be a factor as reserves stepped in and played well.

The No. 1 seed, Lady Dillos, opened up tournament play against the No. 2 seed Lampasas Lynx and cruised to a 31-14 win.

Dillo and Lady Dillo Golf teams compete at Region Tournamenttournament

By Coach Sharon Perry

The Dillo and Lady Dillo Golf Teams competed with pride at the Region IV Golf Tournament in Corpus Christi last week on Wednesday and Thursday, April 26 and 27. The Lady Dillos, competing at the Oso Beach Golf Course, just missed out on advancing to the State Golf Tournament by 3 strokes. (Guess that’s why we always say, “Every stroke counts! Play your round 1 stroke at a time!”) The upside, however, is that two of the Seniors, Katie Watson and Raley Kirk, advanced to the State Golf Tournament as the 2nd and 3rd place individuals not on teams advancing.

Richland Springs High School One Act Play competes in Area Contestceived

On April 1, 2017, Richland Springs High School presented their One Act Play, Macbeth, at the Area contest at Angelo State University in San Angelo. Richland Springs was the first show, and their rehearsal time was scheduled for 6:30 A.M. in San Angelo. Dealing with an early rehearsal assignment, food poisoning from the night before, and other adversities, students still tied for a spot to advance to the Regional Contest. Water Valley advanced through the tie-breaker rules.

The journey of producing Shakespeare’s Macbeth came to an end, but all agreed that the many hours of preparation and the learning experiences had been worth it.

Cameron Parham and Jared Martin, both sophomores, received individual Honorable Mention Awards. Peyton Sloan, a senior, received an All-Star Cast medal. Richland Springs was named the Alternate to Regional.
