Midterm grades are due at the end of this week, and just like that the first half of the school year is over!

Last week the 5th graders got a little visit from the Gideon’s and received bibles as special holiday gifts. Thank you to the gentlemen that shared a little bit of their faith with us. The kids were asking to read their bibles all day!

In sports news, the junior high boys played against Richland Springs last week. The visiting team trailed in the first quarter but was in the lead by the half. The Indians tied up the score in the third quarter but the Coyotes didn’t allow any more points from the Indians and instead scored 7 more points themselves, ending the game with a score of 31-38 in favor of the Richland Springs Coyotes.

Lady Dillo Basketball Report

Submitted by Alicia Cummings

The Lady Dillos started the week off by traveling to Bangs to face the Lady Dragons. A couple of weeks earlier, the Lady Dillos had defeated Bangs in our tournament so we knew they would be ready for a rematch in their gym. The Lady Dillos started off slow offensively but with solid defense were able to take a 16-10 lead into halftime. The Lady Dillos would come out strong in the 3rd quarter and outscore Bangs 19-6 in that period. They would go on to defeat Bangs by a score of 41- 30. I was proud of our response after halftime. I thought the girls came out with a lot of energy to break the game open. We had a little let down in the 4th quarter and we must continue to focus on playing a full 32 minutes.

News From Cherokee ISD

We are back in the swing of things here at Cherokee ISD after a welcomed and appreciated week off from school. Just 4 more weeks until Christmas Break! It’s hard to believe the year is almost halfway over. This time of year is very busy so be sure to check your calendars often.

Our new school website is up and available for you to use. The web address is the same (www.cherokeeisd.net). It is really great! Be sure to check it out. Find your students’ teachers and subscribe to their pages. You will receive emails as the teacher updates his/her page. (S)he might post important due dates, events, interesting articles, assignments, etc. on the page. This will really help you to keep up with what’s going on at school. Also, if you have more than one student, you will only receive one email TOTAL with important school information. All of your children’s teachers will show up in one place. Very cool! We hope you choose to use this feature.
