Dillos drop game to Goldthwaite

The Armadillos got out to a slow start on Friday and couldn’t come back to earn their 4th win of the season. With the loss, the Dillos drop to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in District play.

The offense accumulated 231 yards of total offense with 118 through the air and 113 on the ground. Sean O’Keefe was the leading rusher with 65 yards, followed by Josh Lambert with 42. Joseph Watson led receivers with 3 catches for 48 yards.

Touchdowns for the Dillos came on a 10-yard pass from O’Keefe to Cole Tupin in the 2nd quarter and from O’Keefe who ran in for a 1-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter. The defense was led by Eric Argote who had 12 tackles, along with Sakima Herrera and Josh Lambert, who both recorded 10 tackles.

Seventh grade Dillos hook Harper Longhorns 22-6

San Saba’s Seventh Grade Dillos traveled to Harper Thursday afternoon and came home with an exciting 22-6 victory. Both teams played pretty evenly for over three quarters before the Dillos took the lead.

San Saba kicked to Harper to begin the contest. The Dillo Defense led by Jaxzen Mask, Aiden Martinez,Dylan Ware, Zuriel Herrera, Noah Martinez, Tegen Saiz, Daylon Smith, Jesus Betancourt, Christian Ramirez, Tyler Johnson, Rene Guerrero, and Ivan Canedo forced the Horns to give up the pigskin.

News From Cherokee ISD

Last week was a short but very busy week here at Cherokee ISD. The fifth graders went to San Saba for Agricultural Safety Day. They had a lot of fun and learned so much. A big thanks goes to the LCRA for putting this event together each year.

In sports news, the junior high football team played against Zephyr here in Cherokee. In the first quarter Eric Miller scored 3 touchdowns.

Paper Clover Campaign comes to Tractor Supply Co.

Each spring and fall, Tractor Supply helps raise money for 4-H programs with the Paper Clover Campaign, a national in-store fundraiser that benefits 4-H programming. The fall Paper Clover Campaign will be coming to San Saba during October 4th through October 15th.

Customers have the opportunity to purchase paper clovers for $1.00 or more during checkout. At the end of the campaign, 90% of the funds raised will benefit the local 4-H youth development program activities, such as local camps and after-school programs, and grant scholarships for 4-H youth in Texas, as well as the San Saba community.

News From Cherokee ISD

Kellen Everett running the ball . . .

Last week was a great week to be an Indian! Our junior high cross country teams went to Brownwood and competed against some larger schools. For the boys, Matthew Gass placed 19th. Kase Bordner placed 28th, and Joey Bond placed 29th. The girls’ team placed 7th overall with contributions from Sydnie Bond, Laci Wagenr, Skyla Shannon, Kathy Shannon, Skylar Harris, and Gracie Perry.

The junior high football team played Prairie Lea in a home game on Friday evening. The game was a tight match. The Cherokee Indians were trailing by only one point at the half. In the 3rd quarter, Kase Bordner recovered a fumble and Eric Miller scored a touchdown with a 32 yard run.
