Scottish Rite Club to meet Tuesday, December 10th

The San Saba Scottish Rite Club will hold its quarterly stated meeting on Tuesday, December 2013 at the Lodge hall in San Saba. A meal of BBQ ribs will be provided by Douglas H. Merritt, 32°. Supper will be served at 6:30P.M. All members are asked to bring a complementary covered side dish or dessert. Ladies, family and guests are invited.

Rotary Club of San Saba inducts three new members

The Rotary Club of San Saba hosted Bill Green, Vice-President Sales and Marketing, of Scott & White Health Plan at their October meeting at Pepperbelly’s. In his program, Mr. Lee discussed the Affordable Healthcare Act
and how the health insurance exchanges will work in Texas and the impact the new system will have on healthcare in our area. The meeting was attended by the members of the Rotary Club and several guests who had come to listen to the presentation. Mr. Lee fielded questions from the club members and the guest during and after his presentation.

LCRA to ask State for emergency drought relief in 2014

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) will ask the state for permission to cut off Highland Lakes water to most farmers in 2014 unless the combined storage of Lakes Buchanan and Travis improves significantly by March 1. Without additional rain, 2014 would be the third year in a row, and only the third time in LCRA's history, that most farmers would go without water from the Highland Lakes.

County Commissioners discuss 50/50 grant for emergency improvements to courthouse

The San Saba Commissioners Court was held on Monday, November 25th at 9:00 a.m. in the county judge’s chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the court to order and welcomed everyone. The invocation was given by Commissioner Kenley Kroll followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

Deputy achieves Master Peace Officer Certification

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education or TCLEOSE has awarded Harold Yates its highest certification level of Master Peace Officer. Sheriff Steve Boyd presented the award on Friday and congratulated Deputy Yates on his achievement. TCLEOSE provides for the certification, licensing, training and program development of Texas Peace Officers. Master Peace Officer certification is the highest level that a Texas Peace Officer may achieve.

San Saba ISD holds regular board meeting

The San Saba ISD Board of Trustees held a Regular Meeting on November 11th at 4:00 p.m. in the Central Administration Office. President Kim Kirk called the meeting to order with all members present followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. The following students were recognized for the month of November: Elementary, Landri Glover, Jaycie Everett, Jaela Nelson, Madison Shahan and Delaney Ellis; Middle School, Christina Robles; High School, Pio Argote, Kolton Ellis, Juana Macias and Stanley Butler.

Chamber hosting Sip and Stroll Wine Tasting and Lighted Christmas Parade December 14th

The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sip and Stroll Wine Tasting Event and Lighted Christmas Parade on December 14th 2013. The sip and stroll is from 3:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. The lighted Christmas
parade begins at 6:00p.m. at 7th and Wallace Sreets. There will be six wineries participating and each will be housed in a separate downtown business. They are as follows:

City Council presents awards and welcomes new city officer

The San Saba City Council held a Regular Session on Tuesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Mayor Ken Jordan called the session to order and announced a quorum present with Aldermen Shawn 
Oliver and Oleta Behrens absent. Mayor Pro-Tem, Martha L. Whitten gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.
