The State of Texas vs. Louis Davenport The following testimony was taken at the examining trial in the above mentioned case

Dick Sullivan testified he knew Matt Ford.

He remembered meeting Ford and Dougherty on the river on a certain day, and they talked about the killing of one Williams, who had been shot the day before.

Witness did not recollect anything about Murphy’s being shot at.

Mr. B. Blackwood testified to being at Ford’s house with Daugherty on the first day of January 1889, when the Jones’ came there and told of the murder of Davenport, which occurred that morning.

2019-20 Hunting Season Forecast for San Saba County

You know that old saying about Texas weather, the one about hang around a few minutes and it will likely change? Well nothing could be closer to the truth than the San Saba County rainfall pattern dating back to last fall. Of course you remember the incredible rains back in October 2018 with roughly fourteen inches of rain that month. You may recall that San Saba County typically receives 28” of rainfall in twelve months but in 2018, the total amount was almost 39”! November and December of 2018 ended with nearly four additional inches and the wildlife headed into the winter months in fine physical condition and the ground soaked up the moisture like a sponge. 2019 started out great with more than thirteen inches falling from January to the end of June. The habitat and the wildlife each had a great mid-winter and stored up their resources for the remainder of the late winter.

She brings tears to my eyes, not just because she has a precious sounding voice and sweet face. It is her love and joy of singing. She scrunches up that little button nose and hits the notes perfectly.

Notes from the Spring Creek Arts Guild

This will be the last of this particular rant about the importance of seeking the truth and verifying information before you internalize it or act on it. In the past two columns, I have talked about finding reliable information sources and fact-checking everything, and about how even The Truth can be conveyed in such a way as to be misleading.
