News From Cherokee ISD

The summer has been a busy one for the students of Cherokee ISD! Perhaps our busiest group has been our 4-H-ers. Dr. Key and the staff at San Saba Animal Hospital hosted a rabies clinic in San Saba. Cherokee 4-H president, Courtney Hull, 2nd vice president, Clayton Hull, and San Saba 4-H club president, Mikaela Castro volunteered to help with this event. The 4-H also provided a donation only flea and tick bath. We are so glad that our students understand the importance of getting the animals of this community proper care.

DPS reminds Texans about dangers of leaving children in vehicles

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds Texans about the dangerous potential for vehicular heatstroke in summer months when a child is left alone in a vehicle. Every year, children die from heatstroke after being left in a vehicle or entering a vehicle unnoticed. “Children should never be left unattended in a vehicle regardless of the weather; however especially in warmer temperatures, the likelihood of serious injury or death increases exponentially when a child – or anyone – remains in a hot vehicle for too long,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw.
